Skyline Ranch Wedding (Past)

I got married in October of 2015. When picking the venue we wanted a rustic setting. After looking at tons of venues all around Central Florida we found Skyline Ranch out in Groveland. It was the perfect spot for our ceremony and reception. The dirt road, the lake, the building, it all fit perfectly into our dream. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking! If we decide to renew our vows down the road I will definitely check availability here first!

What could be a better rustic flower than sunflowers??? Most of the decorations we made ourselves from the centerpieces to the arch. I’m happy and proud of the way it all turned out. We kept some of the centerpieces (they were all different) to use as fall decorations at home.

We wanted our reception to be more of a family style party than a fancy sit down dinner. We had games including the giant checkers you get at Cracker Barrel, corn hole and more. Good ole Sunny’s BBQ buffet style was for dinner and an open bar serving beer, strawberry wine and Jack Daniels.

Every reception must have a DJ, and I’m glad with our choice. DJ Porkchop did a great job and even took tons of pictures as well for us!

Speaking of pictures, our photographer did amazing as well. I needed to find an affordable photographer, if you’ve ever needed a wedding photographer you know expensive it can be. After doing some research I found Wedding Bug. You answer some questions online and look at pictures to decide which you like and which you don’t. It then matches you with a photographer for your event! We had Nona Photography and she did a wonderful job. I am one of those people that would rather be behind the camera than in front. I’m sure the photographer hated me by the end of the night, but she did a wonderful job and we couldn’t be happier with the pictures we got! Check out this picture the DJ got of our photographer in action.

What do I wish I had done differently? A schedule! We didn’t have a time set for cake cutting and a send off. Without a set time it was late by the time we cut the cake and left. If I could go back and change that I would so more of our family and friends could have been there for both of those.

The outcome: I am married to my wonderful husband and that is what truly matters!
